Arcata
Azalea
Bayside South

I would just go to Google Map and enter each city name, and CA. Works for me everytime.

That works ok for cities, but not well at all for "areas" which are less formal names for certain areas which Google is unlikely or unable to capture and map.

Now that I look at a google map of Eureka (fairly zoomed in), it does show the "area" names also. They are just not "look-up-able". Well, anyways, that works ok for now. Thanks for the suggestion.
One other question: I know Dragonslayer is very good about giving little overviews of various areas and cities in the county, but is there any more official version that might be available on the internet? Something with median house prices and crime rates would be great, but I know the crime data is probably not broken down that way. At least the house prices would be great.
While I am on the topic of wishing for more info, I wish there were more pictures of various neighborhoods in Humboldt available on the internet. It would be great also if Google made one of those "drive around" 3D films like they do for other areas sometimes (I forget the name of those things). I was looking at Portland recently, and the Google map film was really helpful for getting a better feel for the neighborhood.
Remaining wishlist item: I wish I had 10 more wishes.

Two items of advice.
First off, the home page for this site has a "button" for finding cities. Don't tell anyone this, but if you know the zip code of the area of interest to you, you can enter the zip code instead of the city name and get very specific information specifically for that zip code only. But we can just keep that our little secret (actually, I asked the site admin to publicize this outstanding site feature but for some reason I haven't been able to get their attention).
Second off, go to Realtor.com and enter the zip code of the area where you would like to see homes for sale, and you will get a comprehensive current listing of residential properties.

Thanks much!
Now about those ten wishes, can you help me on those?

Eureka had kind of a nice quaint area they had developed, although it looked like many of the stores might be struggling a bit. Though it is very small, the city of Ferndale, about 15 miles south of Eureka, was kind of neat.
However, it is always chilly out there, rarely getting much over the low 60's with a bit of a Pacific breeze. I kind of like it, but many (i.e. my wife) don't.

Maybe we should switch wives? My wife loves that kind of weather, but I am not so excited about it...I am torture-testing myself this winter in preparation for Nor Cal by going jogging every day no matter what the weather (rain, cold, etc).
We are going to visit the area in July this year to take a look around and get a feeling for the various areas and cities. Yeah, I know the weather that time of year will not be very representative.
I have some crazy idea that I will like the Berkeleyish (Go Bears!) feel of Arcata, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what it is like in real life. I am hoping for a small town feeling with lots of little cafes, book shops, and restaurants.

We will be there next month checking out the areas. I like the weather, husband likes the sun. I was told to check out Fortuna for better weather.I have a 'vision' of the area as well. I have heard the opinions that it is 'run down' and that it is heavan. I assume the truth is somewhere in between.

Some of the areas are a bit run down, the general area was mostly old logging communities. However, much nice stuff can be found to, and the areas don't have the congestion of much of California.
And the rides you can take in these areas....WOW!!!
