@Lifeshadower : here's the route I designed based on your input. Please let me know if I'm missing something or if the link doesn't work.

Thanks.
I saw the link. Looks good! If you're just planning to see the coast and Yosemite, 3 weeks is more than enough time.

If you have any questions, just shoot me a message. I'm sure some of the other forumers will have suggestions on what to see, but if I were to plan out a trip, that's what it would look like.

If you have time, Tahoe is also something that you can't miss. However, something tells me you'll have more than enough winter fun in Yosemite!

The eastern portions of the park are closed in the winter. Yosemite Valley is usually open, and can be crowded if the weather is fair. You always have to check conditions before going up there in the winter.

Yosemite National Park - Current Conditions (U.S. National Park Service)

If the weather isn't going to be favorable for a visit to Yosemite, you could always tour the Motherlode, or visit several of the towns along Hwy 49 as a backup plan. Mariposa is along Hwy 140, which goes into the park. If you are further north near Sonora, there is Columbia State Park, Jamestown and Railtown 1897 (if you like trains), as well as Murphys, Angel's Camp and a few other towns nearby.

Since it is winter many things may be closed. This would be more of a go see the old mining towns and the countryside type of a trip over doing much in the way of activities.

And always check road conditions if it is raining. Portions of the highways in the Motherlode are high enough to receive snow at times, although it usually isn't a problem.
