No, it isn't, if we were to list the bizarre ideas held today by the 20% of those who identify themselves as Republicans, Birthers, Deathers, Medicare isn't socialism, socialism is evil, there is a heck of a list of completely irrational ideas, promoted by right wing media hacks and absorbed without analysis by that 20%

I so fully agree but some will not because a thought like this will not back what they want or believe in even if it is the truth. I say that as all we have to do is look to Washington right now and how many are voting for and against a bill no one has seen let alone taken time to read yet! Every vote cast to this point is a no nothing votes because even an amendment is nothing with out the main bill it is attached to. So with out a bill to read there should not be a single vote or a discussion on any pros or cons of it because simply put no one knows what there even talking about right now. if the people writing it have no idea how can we the people yet we need to know so we can let them know how we want them to vote being there only casting our vote in proxy for us or at lest that is how it is supposed to be. The best thing right now on that bill is to stop it cold right now and come back to it after they and we the people have had time to read it and give input that is meaningful to it.
So as I said I agree with you as to it is prevalent all across the ideological spectrum
