Bicycling in Eureka/Arcata? (live in, relocating to, bike)

I am considering relocating to the Eureka/Arcata area, and am into road cycling. Aside from the rainy winters and generally cool temperatures, it would seem like a good place for bicycling. Is this true? Are there any cyclists out there?

I ride my bike from time to time, when the wind or rain isn't terrible. I see quite a few serious cyclists around though (I live in Eureka). There isn't really a bike trail that I know of but there are bike lanes on many of the major roads.
