Smile Looking for a safe neighborhood in Stockton/Modesto/or surrounding areas.

Hello -
I am relocating to the Stockton area for work and would like to know some safe communities I can look into. Also great day cares. I am interested in finding a apt/home in the Modesto area preferably but I really do not want to commute more than 30 minutes.
Please give me some ideas?

Thank you and Happy Holidays,
Renee

If someone told you that Stockton had safe neighborhoods I'm sorry but you were lied to.

Oakdale was pretty nice. I haven't been there in years though. It might still be nice.

Best of Luck to you.

Oakdale is still pretty nice. Oakdale is east of Stockton and Modesto in towards the foothills. Ripon is another good choice which is inbetween Stockton and Modesto on 99. Manteca is ok but I would pick Ripon first. Tracy is also pretty close and is a good town.

In general I would look at Lodi, Ripon, Oakdale, Tracy and maybe Manteca.

Oakdale is a little drive though to 99, Ripon is a good town, I think it's a little pricer though. Tracy to me isn't that great, unless you want the convience of being the best central valley city for commuting to the Bay. Lodi is okay also, further south Turlock is also nice, but is a good 15 min south of Modesto.

Lustrums ago we did a lot of fishin' & campin' around the Delta, Camanche Lake, Delta/Mendota & CA Aquaduct canals, Pajaro River, Don Pedro, etc...

Default Info on Modesto, CA

I currently live in UT and cannot stand the winter...I need somewhere where it is pretty much warm all year 'round. My husband and I have been looking at the Modesto area....can anyone tell me about the area? Preferably some people that live in that area? What city is the best? What type of people live there? How are the day cares? etc.... Thank You for your help!
Dixie
