I'm baffled by the contradictions in these threads. People complain that California has too many people, but then they also complain that too many people are leaving California for other states. Can you guys make up your minds?
The complainers are just unhappy economically marginal ............. complainers, if they left they would complain about their new home, aside from Curmudgeon he likes his doublewide in 20 degree weather, which is why he is a ................. curmudgeon.

But, Mexico is ranked 60th in the world in GDP. out of 194 countries, according to the CIA, it is doing better than Venezuela, Turkey, South Africa, Iran, Belarus, and Brazil just to mention a few.

And I am sure that you know the current drug violence is because of its location next to the US.
But according to the earlier post, since it has great climate and beautiful geography like CA, all that should'nt matter and it should be a paradise.

Because, of course, climate and natural beauty always mean economic & social success.

Editted to add: If Mexico's drug cartels are our fault, why does'nt Canada have the same issue?

Where's the data to support that? Also, I think the assertion that "the middle class is leaving" is mathematically invalid. There will always be a middle class. If the current middle class disappears, they will leave a void that will be filled by others. The upper class will have to start paying higher wages to the lower class to refill the jobs vacated by the middle class, creating a new middle class.

Its the middle class jobs leaving that are causing the exodus of middle class people not vise-versa as you idea requires.

Give us an example of a middle class job that can be taken over by an unskilled illegal. Say, an engineer. Do you really think an unskilled/uneducated illegal can function as an engineer?

I agree, everyone knows that the middle class has been vanishing for decades now nationwide, not just in Ca. although it's perhaps more pronounced here. No one has come along to replace them yet.

People they don't like, who don't speak English and whose culture and race are different from their own, are entering.

People they DO like, who speak the same language and share the same culture, who they can relate to and potentially be friends with, are leaving.

that's the difference.

Are you saying California does not need teachers, nurses, engineers, accountants, lawyers, doctors etc anymore?
