Does anyone read long articles anymore?
Here's a (typically) long and interesting New Yorker piece for your enjoyment.

Thank you, but I'm confused as to when it was published. It looks like it's from the March 8 issue ( which it's not, at least not they one they delivered to my mailbox) but in faint letters it says July 28, 2008. ???

I see July 2008.
I didn't realize that it wasn't a recent article.

Glad you appreciated it.
I guess it's a bit too long of an article to generate discussion and i have to admit that i haven't finished reading it as my eyes go buggy if i read too much on-line ... gotta go to the library and copy it.

The article is an entertaining & "colorful" snapshot of one part of a culture that most folks probably know little about, but I doubt it's any more "representative" than interviewing moonshiners in Appalachia. The fact is that beyond the stereotypes, pot growing ("medicinal" or otherwise) is currently such a profitable endeavor (even in Japan), that everyone from north coast hippies to suburban housewives is cultivating the "herb" these days!

But since you posted the article and started the thread, what's your take on it?
