Truth, but if you can find reasonable rent space you could see monthly mortgage and rent as little as a grand a month. And at least you get some back when you sell.

I agree with Escape on this one. Finding a decent mobile home in a nice area along the coast for $1000/mo including rent space isn't going to happen. Rent for the space alone can cost that much or more in the nicer areas. Of course mobile home parks further inland or out in the middle of nowhere will be less.

Yeah, they were sparse all right. I think I dug up a whopping 18 listings within 20 miles of Los Angeles that were under 100K.

I can only speak about Santa Ana regarding this, and IMO it's not as bad as it's made out to be (but those things do exist to an extent in certain areas).


OP, do not by a mobile home. They appreciate about as well as cars do. If you don't care about that and only look at them as places to sleep, then you'll be okay.
