A rather comprehensive listing of what the CalTax Organization identifies as California government waste.

I'm not taking a position of support or challenge to their findings, but for those interested in specific issues this rather lengthy document summarizes what this organization considers to be $18+ billion in potential wasted expenditures over the past decade.

And what do we hear from Sacramento all the time? "We've cut everything there is to cut. We have cut through the muscle and are now cutting bone. We are forced to close your parks, cut police, reduce your library hours, etc, etc. And we need more taxes. There is just no way around it".

Can't wait till eveyone wakes up and sends their elected officials pink slips this election year. Oh yea I forgot, it is not your elected official that is a part of the problem, but eveyone elses elected official.

Wow, that's a painful read. One of my personal favorites was the state prison nurse who collected $198,000 in overtime, bringing her total pay to $310,000. Apparently, I went into the wrong line of work. Also was a big fan of the UC Berkeley Chancellor who makes $390,000 per year, yet the state paid relocation expenses to buy him a new car.

Housing would be paid for as well for the chancellor. $390K may not get you the car you want though.

that is so true! Do you think that's the reason things never change in California? I truly believe that there is no difference between the politic parties in California. How do Republicans differ from Democrats? Once they get into office they all become the same thing.

Both parties are corrupt to the core. The sooner voters admit that, the better off this country will be. Divided we fall............

Who can you vote for then? There aren't many political parties except Republican and Democrat [maybe the Libertarian and Green Party]. I think California is in a mess because of Californians [esp if they keep voting for the same people over and over again]. Isn't that a sign of insanity?

Just keep tossing out the incumbents. Sooner or later they'll get the message.

You are talking a life-time effort! Then has to be a quicker way to improve state government.
