This is such BS. I guess the cops in gilroy have nothing else better to do. The girl is not a child (but maybe mentally she is). Now this young mans life is ruined & he didnt even touch her. She should be arrested for sending nude pics of herself. In ca nude images of anyone under 18 is considered child porn. http://www.seattlepi.com/national/1110ap_us_sexting_visitor.html (broken link)

Now, if he had waited just a few months, he wouldn't have broken any laws.

That depends. Maybe she just turned 17 or her 18th b-day isnt for awhile. She though should be charged with child porn. Thats illegal in ca & its only fair she be punished as well. I think the gilroy police have been inhaling too much garlic.

Apparently my grandfather was a pedophile, seeing as how he married my grandmother when she was 17 and he was 24. That marriage lasted 62 years, only ending with his death.

At least Chris Hanson wasn't waiting on the other end. Remember all the sting operations he had in California? Man!

To Catch a Predator was an amazing show. It really does need to come back on the air. Funniest. show. ever.

I've always found it odd that a state as progressive as California has an 18 year old age of consent, while many other less progressive states have younger ages of consent

Because people in early 20th century California were just as freaked out about Mexican immigration, and considerably more freaked out about Asian immigration, as people in early 21st century California.

The laws weren't intended to be used against white men but "those dirty furriners".

Personally, this is not an issue that affects me and I really don't have an opinion about it. Just stating the history.
