Perhaps he's not in Colombia at all!

Well aren't you a hostile one. Maybe you should smoke some "medicine" and relax or have a glass of California wine before it gets taxed into oblivion.

Several of my law enforcement friends moved to Nevada, Idaho and Montana at the time when CA was taking out taxes on retirements earned in California...

As far as I know... California does not apportion based on partial years... we need the money

I get income from another State and must pay CA Income Tax...

Oh, now you're a "victim" too?!

Incidentally, for all the whining here about Cali taxes, they're actually only a "whopping" 1.4% more than that Mecca of Ozark "culture", Missouri (which is less than half our size).

Actually, California income tax is 3.3% higher and taken on every penny earned but for Social Security. This "Mecca of the Ozarks" not only provides a state tax discount for federal taxes paid and a deduction for SS earnings but only taxes 50% of state retirement funds for last year, will only tax 35% next year, 20% the following year and none of it thereafter. All other taxes in the state are considerably lower as is the overall cost of living.

By the way, not just half the size but with only a sixth the population as well which leaves us plenty of elbow room!

Averages like that are pretty useless. There's so many people who don't pay anything or pay so little on a big tax like property tax that it brings down the average. Try earning enough to support yourself and go buy a house and see how much tax you pay in California. It'll be a lot more than the stated average.

And I suspect there's a good reason for that too!

Although apparently the current trends are that your population has been growing lately. But instead of being the most affluent, most of these "refugees" appear to be the sort of folks who simply can't afford Cali. Which suggests that many of these new "immigrants" could actually end up being an additional burden on state services (and taxes)!
