Heres a list of the salaries of a california highway patrolman & cadets. There pay is quit good plus they get full health/dental benefits & we (ca tax payers) even pay for their lunch. No wonder ca is in the toilet financially (incl prison, teachers & public employees). http://www.chp.ca.gov/recruiting/osalary.html

But they have to work with the likes of Erik Estrada. That's what I call hardship pay.

I'm probably one of the most critical people you could find when it comes to government workers' pay. Once Jerry Brown gave them collective bargaining they proceeded to bankrupt the state. That having been said I don't have a problem with high salaries for law enforcement. They have a miserable job to perform especially in a place like CA. Would you do their work?

Yes i would for that kind of pay, full benefits & perks. I was surprised to read they get paid lunches. With my luck though i would be stationed in the desert. I HATE hot weather even though i would be in a a/c car & building. Jerry brown is & always will be a clown.

No offense but I have a really hard time appreciating a post criticizing the pay of law enforcement. Would you like to go to work each day knowing you might never come home due to the danger of your job? Some people seem to complain about everything but don't focus one bit on improving there own life. Now we have cop-haters on the forum!

Sorry, I shouldn't have called you a cop hater. I have a very high regard for cops & think they should get more money instead of less so I am a bit biased.

My cousin's a CHP STO out of the Fresno office. As far as I'm concerned, he earns every cent they pay him, and then some.

Im a Lil bitter now towards the chp due to the nikki catsouras incident. All it takes is a few bad cops to ruin it for the rest of them. Ill cool down though over time.
