Default schools and general area that is modesto!

Hi all, I have been offered a really good position in Modesto (as well as a few other positions in other states) and I need to weigh up my options here.

Ive read lots of negative things about Modesto on this forum...is it really horrible?!?
Also, how are the schools? I have been given the address of the facility I would be working in and it is in district 95350. I have no clue where this is in Modesto and whether it's in a good/bad neighbourhood etc. Any help, information and advice much appreciated It may be that I can use Modesto as a starting point for the first year of our relocation and if I was really unhappy there, the company have said they would be willing to transfer me to another facility in CA.

Any help, information and advice much appreciated about the general area, good/bad neighbourhoods, housing, cost of living, schools and family activities available to do in the area

If you are willing to have a 15 mile commute the town of Oakdale is nice.

As a town to work in or shop Modesto is fine.

I am not sure what you mean. You didn't give me a zip code number.

As to Oakdale, you can google it for more info. It is a town of about 10,000 and has a good reputation for a family town-good schools.
