Very true. I've often said, "Better my sister in a whorehouse than my brother a Giants fan."

Ironically, Marichal ended up on the Dodgers.

When I was about 10 or so my dad took me and my birthday party to a Dodger game (they were playing the Giants). A couple of my friends were Giants fans and they recognized Marichal sitting, as a spectator, a couple rows ahead of us. My friend went over and asked for his autograph which I think he provided. A few minutes later, people started recognizing him and he got the heck out of there.

Yes, for the '75 season.

And speaking of '60s Dodgers: Duke Snider ended up on the Giants for his last two seasons of playing major league baseball.

Based on his vociferous defense of Barry Bonds a few years back when the steroids controversy was at its height, one can guess that Snider feels more loyalty to the Giants than the Dodgers, despite being a native Angeleno.

What about in San Luis Osbispo?
I don't think its a geographic line, rather its an issue of IQ.

Under 60 = Dodgers fan
60-80 = A's Fan
80-100= Angels fan
100+ = Giants Fan

When we lived in San Francisco all but those of us from Los Angeles were Giant Fans, those were in the Dodger hay days...I would imagine San Louis O could go either way.

Those are the days I am talking about: The Dodges moved to Calif the year I was married (guess that tells my age) and our oldest daughter was almost born at a World Series game in 1959. Needless to say, when we were transferred to the bay area (1965) we had to live among Giant fans and still kept our Dodger alliance, we still have it...

Fontucky, a good fan with enough years under his/her belt couldn't forget the Juan/Johnnie incident.

Visalia is about the geographical dividing line... but if you want to root for a champion, the Giants aren't an option.
