Forth of July is a Holiday, Cinco De Mayo is not a Holiday in the United States nor is it one in Mexico.

Precisely, let's recognize the "intent" here, and how come they didn't pick any other day except this one to display their, um, "patriotism"!

This is the same argument as those "morans" (a nice "teabagger" word) who use the confederate flag to try and intimidate blacks, while pretending it's really just about "southern pride"! Yeah, right, and the Civil War was only a simple "misunderstanding"....

Yeah, just like there are some rappers who aren't black (like Eminem). Still doesn't change the "message".

It was not brought out if they wear the Colors of this Nation on other days or not. It is not illegal to do so either way. What intent are you alluding to anyway?

It seems that to be politicatlly correct we need to put down our own nation and celebrate something that has little to do with this nation. This Nation is the greatest nation in the world. Their was a time when people were proud to be an American, if they were native born or an imigrant (Legal) People loved this nation and were proud to fly the flag. Now their is this idea that we are offending someone when you fly the American Flag. Guess what, the Stars and Striped don't bow down to any other flag, king, ruler or President. This is the United States of America and a kid in any high school has the right to let others know that they are proud to live in this land.

It's just sad that our nation has become a bunch of whiners of making things right for everyone. I like change, but the foundings of our nation have been getting degrated within the last 15 or so years and I just don't tolerate it. I'm not religious, but I don't make a fuss about God being on our moeny or in the pledge of the alligence. You think that if we Americans went to live in say the middle east that we could practice the same freedoms we have here? I don't think so. While cultures come here to live, they have the freedom and right to practice what they believe. So don't come here and try to change ours!

The information that has been coming out is that there has been a lot of cultural tension at this school already- this was not some innocent individuals that just happened to put on whatever they could find in their closets. It was a group of hicks getting together to try and make some sort of statement (which probably went unnoticed by the majority of Latinos anyway)

It would be the same thing, imo, as a bunch of fundamentalist Christian kids organizing others to wear Jesus shirts or big crosses on a Jewish holiday just to be mean. Nothing the matter with Jesus shirts or crosses, but obviously a way to incite some nastiness as a group- antagonizing, bullying, deliberately making someone feel bad or wrong or different should not be acceptable in public schools. Pride does not mean being boastful.
