Default meal plan or self-feeding?

hello! I'm planning to live in student housing in San Luis Obispo. the housing has meal plan 19 meals/week and it costs 400$ for month. is it a good price or it would better and cheaper to buy food on my own and organise feeding myself?

Having just been out of college, I would recommend doing the meal plan for the first semester. Since it's only 19 meals, you can decide whether or not the food you get for the other meals will cut it. Chances are if you're living in student housing, you won't have much to make hot meals (I could be wrong) and you probably won't cook more than mac and cheese in a dorm. Eating out would cost a lot more than $400 for 19 meals! Eating with the meal plan in a common dining area is also a great way to meet people at first. What I did, is I started with a big meal plan, then as I got to know how many times I'd be eating there, I decreased it...but I always had a plan while I lived on campus. Good luck!

Go with the meal plan. I gained twenty pounds on the plan and lost it when I stopped; I am a skinny kid and wanted the weight. Go with the plan: no food shopping, no preperation, no cooking, no cleaning dishes, plus a variety of foods.

That sounds awfully expensive, but it may be more nutritious. Chances are you'd be eating junk food or mac n cheese or top raman. Go with the meal plan .......

Depends on if you like to make dinner and clean dishes in a small cramped dorm.

I say meal plan even if it is more expensive
