Yes.

We have a national consciousness, but every year a smaller and smaller portion of that consciousness actually remembers that day from experience. I don't, and I know all the knowledge of it I can amass from books, films, or even personal conversation with those who bore witness can never even begin to approach the raw, visceral shock and trauma of having lived on that day. Or, even worse, having been there.

I missed both dates by no less than a decade, but I was raised by and grew up around WW2 vets, all of whom made sure we didn't forget.

That's how other states are too! Like I've mentioned before, my ex friend from st louis said she has some stuck up people at her work and she told me she wanted them to go back to california where they can be as stuck up as they want.

Ah well, look at the bright side. She's in Misery... I mean Missouri, sweltering in that hot, humid, bug-infested sauna, while you're in......... SAN DIEGO!.

You win.

Wow.

The ironic aspect was most of the people who moved to that area to be part of that group were from California and Washington, it is said there are more skinheads in the Seattle area than almost anywhere else in the USA. Idaho had no affiliation with that group, Idaho just had to deal with the fact that group had civil rights to do what they wanted, including the parades which no longer exist. Whenever there was a parade by the out of staters who were part of that group, there were almost twice as many Idahoans protesting the parades. Just another example of people moving to pristine Idaho and wreaking havoc.
Can you provide a source for this? I'm curious as to how they knew the founder was from Cali. It's crazy wherever he was from though.

Damn those evil Californians who are ruining Idaho. That's what I meant by the "most narrow-minded, provincial attitudes I've ever encountered" comment.

This Californian unassed that AO for Spokane (an amazingly friendly city, I soon discovered) after only 6 months, so my pollution was minimal.
LMAO!

Where do they live in California? Believe it or not, most of California is affordable...it's the areas that your friends in their 30s and 40s are choosing to live in that makes it unaffordable for them. Actually, with the housing market down, if they are in a sound financial position, now is a great time to buy real estate in California. But that means that they'd have to forego the "Hollywood" lifestyle, i.e., live within or below their means.

finally someone says it! I am not some millionaire who can afford some nice house along the beach. i am middle class. I feel it's pretty annoying when people say it's too expensive. obviously they haven't done enough research

Unless you live in Alabama. I went to the DMV a couple of weeks ago and the sign on the door said "CLOSED FOR JEFF DAVIS'S BIRTHDAY". I had to look it up but apparently it was "Confederate Memorial Day". This is the day that the Confederacy officially surrendered.
