Again, I don't buy this typical kind of fear mongering. But obviously many have bought into it hook line and sinker. America will not become communist because of Obama. That is simply delusional paranoia IMO. And yes, I have belonged to the Republican party for more years than many have been alive on this forum. But some of this rhetoric as of late has been embarassing and not based on any real intellectual analysis of reality of current situations but rather in Fear. The big bad communist Gov't boggy man come to get ya.

But I I still like enough other elements of what the party stands for to belong to it for better or worse. For example in this race for Governor I think Meg has much more to offer our state. However I would never vote for Palin.

Truman issued an executive order to nationalize the steel industry - which is going far beyond Obama.

LBJ had no need to nationalize anything because the US enjoyed the greatest economic prosperity in its history while he was president.
