Lol — a grown man has to be told over the phone (and then gets angry about it) that he can use the stove top to warm the van. This can’t be real, how can two adults be that ignorant?
REALLY IMPORTANT.....DO NOT USE A STOVE TOP TO WARM A SMALL RV.
I have a 31 foot 5th wheel, and a small RV the size of the camper van. I carry TWO digital readout CO meters in each RV's.
In the smaller RV the CO level's get pretty high is a REAL SHORT period of time. Even in the 5th wheel the CO levels rise...and over a period of time can be really dangerous.
Stove tops are NOT for heating a RV. Doing that will KILL YOU. REALLY.

We rented some cabins near Lake Livingston, TX, and the bathrooms were comically small. If you wanted to dress after getting out of the shower you had to stand on the toilet to do it. You could sit on the toilet and lean forward to brush your teeth. Of course, we had teens and their girlfriends, so everyone was trying to be modest and it was like a clown car.
Some people enjoy camping and some don't. The fewer who like it, the better for me. Campgrounds are already over crowded and don't need thousands more campers trying to find space.

As cost of housing goes up, you will have ever more people living in cars, vans, and RVs. Somebody isnt paying attention, affordable housing isnt getting built. People see the lowest of low living in tents and in dumpsters, etc. But one step up are the EMPLOYED, living in their car.
I don't know if I would have enjoyed it, but at least I would have been smart enough to take a good, well charged flashlight with me. To the OP's point, I think articles like this reinforce the idea that you have to have some type of self reliance to go camping. Also, if you can't accept that being in a camper is not the same as being at home, stay at home.

Especially campers who haven't a clue. Like the author of this whiny article.
I am long retired age 86, camping is one of the things that I really miss. Our trips took us north to Nova Scotia, south to Key West, down the Baja to Cabo san Lucas, up to Vancouver BC and many, many places in between. The trips were fun and the memories are priceless.

I have extremely long legs for a 5'9" tall woman. I require a 34" inseam with ballet flats. It sounds as though that was his problem. I would probably have a problem in that bathroom.
The person who rented the van should have provided a small flip binder for the systems. If the person who rented it has no power they still know how to read. Reasonably intelligent people know how to follow directions.
