Hi, We are planning a 3 week visit to Spain in September of this year. Camping at least part of the time would be enjoyable particulary because I am finding a number of "camping" areas rent what looks to be nearly everything needed and we wouldn't have to carry much ourselves. Tenative plans will have us starting in Madrid then heading to the Pyrenees, then circling down through Catalonia, Barcelona (where we have family and a base of operations) ferry out to The Balearic Islands then back to the mainland exiting from Madrid. Any experience with camping in Spain or your thoughts on this would be welcomed. Thanks

I can't really comment on camping but I did see a lot of hikers during my last trip to Spain. Something to mention though is the instructions we received while there. Don't leave exposed anything that you don't want stolen. If it's in a rental car (maps, coffee cups, etc.) you vehicle is likely to be broken into.

like any where else..be aware of your surroundings. do not flash cash or pricy items. There are a lot migrants from other countries and they are NOT "nice" as the Spanish people.
Best of luck.
