Has anyone used camp cots?

If you have, have you found them comfortable? We were looking to find something portable and something to get us up off the ground instead of air mattresses..

What's been your experience with the cot--and any recommendations for style or materials would be most welcomed.

Thanks!

I have a "Swiss Gear" Cot, It folds into fourths and the material is canvas. This is the most comfortable thing I have slept on. It is firm but not Ground hard. It is approx 7' long (I'm 6'2") and about 24" wide. I take it everytime. I cannot sleep on the matresses they kill my back and cannot do anything the next day the ground would keep me awake.
So here is the link to one just like mine. I got mine from the auction in brand new condition for about $15

Good luck

I have one I used for tent camping years ago. It was about like John4 described. Better than the ground, better than foam pads or typical camping air mattresses but a little narrow for my comfort. I think I'd prefer one of those big full-sized/queen mattresses if I still tent camped.
