Thinking about buying this generator for my travel trailer but wondering how quiet is it?

I don't know about that particular one John, but my next door neighbor at this Florida house has a Honda 5000 and during the 4 hurricanes in 05, he ran his generator right outside his kitchen door. That is about 10' from the property line and about 80' from where I sit here on the patio. I could hear it, but it was a quiet hum. Not much louder than an a/c compressor.

Do you have a Honda dealer near you? Ask them to crack that puppy up so you can hear it for yourself.

Not sure about that model but Honda build quiet generators. Just make sure it is a model with clean power to run electronics. Some of the smaller ones I could trip over and not hear.

Well it states 49-58dB depending on the load.....not to bad........trust me the person camping beside you will let you know if he thinks it is too loud...LOL.....

Most campgrounds have rules when you can and cant run your generators anyway just because of noise issues

I know I'm a bit late replying....we used this generator for 14 days straight after Hurricane Ike and it is fairly quiet. Certainly way more quiet than other conventional generators in the neighborhood. We were able to sleep at a distance of less than 50 feet. Uses less gas and oil too.

Actually if you want quite their are kits to attach a metal hose then a car like muffler that can silence almost any generator.Friend that use to Rv had such and he hooked it up once setup and it was a hum inside.

I have the Honda EU 2000i which is very similar, just a bit smaller and less power output. It's really pretty quiet for a generator, but far from silent. It's just like the marketing says, about the same noise level as a conversation. I thought it seemed sort of lout until a friend of mine fired up his older generator at which point mine seemed very quiet. I felt bad for all the other campers around him and wanted to give hime the $1k for an upgrade.

I also have the 2000UI and it seems loud to me up close but quiets significantly not too far away; make sure to have quality (thicker gauge) long extension cords.
