What is the best route Temp work visa or PR
My husband has received a job offer in Edmonton for a Construction Manager, which happens to be on the skilled worker list. He has over 20 years exp. He took the assessment online and got a score of 70, so he know he is eligible. Question is, what is our best route to get there fast. His employer has to get the job approved though service Canada but once he does he wants my husband there soon. Question is, the job is not temp, it would be permanent, so how would a temp visa work? Could he apply for PR once he is there and working after getting a temp visa? I have seen people on here that says it is easy to get a visa, but this seems hard to me with all they require to get one. Any help would be appreciated.

In my case, I got the visa half an hour after I went to the Canadian consulate in Buffalo to apply for it. Not much paperwork -- if I recall correctly just the offer letter and some other basic paperwork. Then I flew to Canada and got the work permit at the airport. That simple. I assume it is similar in your husband's case. It is impossible to get PR that quickly. Once in Canada you can apply for PR. I do not apply for PR, so I do not know exactly how it works. There are other threads discussing this in this forum or elsewhere on the internet.
Hope that helps.

I agree with the previous poster. Get the working permit and apply for PR once in Canada on working visa. Holders of working permit in Canada are eligible to apply for PR under newly created "Canadian experience class". Processing times under Canadian experience class are much shorter than under Skilled worker class which many people use when applying from outside of Canada.

Thanks, I am thinking that will be the way to go as well.
