Probably Canada. Love the cold and tend to be a liberal. If not Canada, then the Northeast U.S. or Pacific Northwest. NOT a fan of the U.S. South!

One of the biggest differences I've noticed between US Americans and Canadians is that Canadians seem to prefer cities while most in the US try to get out of the city. That's an oddity of the US. While most people in the developed world wish to move to the city as it's the epitome of civilization, we Americans tend to see the city as all that's wrong in the US. In may ways it is. Because our infrastructure has evolved to facilitate Suburbanization and spread while we tend to let our cities decay, it's an aspect of our culture that is quite unique. Canadians tend to be a bit more European in that area.

It's called White flight and it's been going on since the mid-late 1950s. Whites left the cities for the suburbs, that's the truth of it. People vote with their feet, where they want to live says a lot about their values, the lifestyle they want, and what they will or will not tolerate.

United States. We are now going to summer in Sitka, Alaska and winter in Arizona.
Our Arizona home is VERY rural (40 mile round trip to buy groceries) - and we love it.

I voted the US, just on the merit that in my mind, being successful in US has much more potential than being successful in Canada.

I would have to say Canada. Mainly for the health care system. I couldnt imagine having some long term disease and living in the states. As for the weather, well I love my four seasons besides not all americans move to the warmer states so that really doesnt cut it for me. Also I find Canadians are better recieved in other countries compared to Americans. I must add though that I love the way americans are so patriotic compared to Canadians. We are a little more laid back and blase about patriotism. Not to say we are not patriotic but we just dont seem to show it as much. I love the way I see american flags on front porches. The way everyone celebrates July 4, compared to the way we celebrate july 1. Both countries are great but I have to say my heart is in Canada

To me, it really wouldn't matter since I could have a great life in either country. I'd be perfectly happy living in New England or the Pacific Northwest
just as I'd be happy living in Nova Scotia or BC. I'd never live in the Southern US nor Northern Canada. As for the people, I've traveled enough to know that people are almost disappointingly the same everywhere. Governments may be different, but every country has mostly decent people who are just trying get on with their lives, with a only few jerks thrown in the mix.

Very true. Unfortunately, some Canadians look at Detroit and Compton and think US while some Americans look at Eskimos and think Canada. I've spent time in Canada and life in America and Canada is pretty much the same for 90 percent of the people. Plenty of places you'd want to live, plenty of places you wouldn't. One thing I've noticed though is Canadians care very much about what Americans think of Canada while Americans aren't too concerned what Canadians think of America. There's definitely a feeling among Canadians that Americans look down on or, even worse, don't give any thought to Canada. Considering many Americans don't realize the majority of Canadians live near our border and not in Igloos in 40 below weather, I can't blame them. But Canadians definitely have misconceptions about life here too. I'm telling you it's not that different.
