Default Canada or the US?

I actually enjoy snowy winters, but I hate driving in winter conditions! Being French-American raised in a French speaking home as a boy, I'm very attracted to the French Quebecois culture in Quebec. Montreal is an awesome city! There is so much to do in Montreal, and that city has more beautiful women than you can shake a stick at! I love the restaurants and the atmosphere in general in Montreal. Montreal is definitely one of my favorite cities in the world. Plus, most French-Canadians act very friendly towards me since I'm part French, and French speaking. In many ways it seems that the people from Quebec almost consider me one of their own since I’m part French and French-speaking. So I felt very welcomed in Quebec. On the other hand, my wife doesn't speak French, and she would have a hard time finding a good job in Quebec without speaking some French.

Lots of paperwork, application fees, and a certain amount of patience.

Check out the Citizenship and Immigration Canada web site for details:

would lov to live in Canada at least in the summers ( can't take the northern winters )
Admire their openness, culture and political system vs the US with rampant puritanism and crazy foreign policies.
Is it posible for americans to live there a few months out of the year ?

/\ Anyone else find it strange that Canada/UK/EU make it a pain in the ass for middle-class Americans to move to, yet if you're a ****-poor Muslim/African/Asian/Mexican immigrant, welcome aboard!

I would have prefered to have been from Canada, and I did see the Sicko movie, but I didn't need to see it to know what is going on in the USA. It really is not very easy for a US citizen to gain Canadian citizenship.

US, definitely. I remember going to Toronto in January and holy crap was it freeeeezing. It made NYC feel tropical when I got back. I also like the variety of landscapes, urban and natural, that the US has.

Yes I did notice that, unless you are marrying a canadian, or have real estate holdings in canada, I don't know the figure needed. Unless you are being hired for a job that a Canadian hasn't been hired to do, citizenship is difficult to gain there. That is citizenship I don't know the criteria for just living there. Who knows I can't really say I blame Canada for its rules, its a nice country and maybe that is why it seems to stay nice, it has strick requirements.

Defintely US. the United States has everything, good and bad, cold and hot. overall Canada is a boring country. I know many people in Canada who wanted to move to the US but it's very difficult to get green cards. where is wayne gretzky... or oh... mark messier after their retirements? do they still live in Toronto, Edmonton or Yellow Knife?
