Hi all,

If anyone would mind talking to me about living in Nova Scotia, please send me a message. I would love to discuss the pros and cons.

Thanks!

Newfoundland and Labrador is better! You can still get the look of living in Nova Scotia, plus more. The economy is better, taxes are lower, people are nicer and the culture is better.

NOT!
People EVERYWHERE in the Atlantic provinces are nice.
Nova Scotians (and Newfies, and herring chokers and potato heads) are ALL super friendly.

Okay. I am going to give Newfoundlanders extra points for partying skills - but that's it!

I lived in Halifax for three years. Have friends in Nova Scotia as well.

Pros
  • Friendly people
  • Nice summers
  • Gorgeous falls
  • Some nice beaches
  • Superb seafoodh
  • Keiths beer
  • Good airport connections through YHZ
  • Some real deals on real estate if you stay away from Halifax (if I remember correctly you are looking for a summer place anyways?)

Cons
  • Expensive electricity (but again, if you are looking primarily at summer residence, it won't be much of a factor in the anyways provided you get a place near the water, with a breeze so you don't have to have air conditioning)
  • CAN be rainy in the summer - ya just never know what you are going to get.
  • Mosquitos

Ah, you've gotta go easy on the kid, sunshineleith. While he's overenthusiastic, he's also harmless.

True. Also true that Newfoundland and Labrador are not "better" than NS. Just different.
