Seriously, PB, why must Quebec always be consulted? You are one province out of ten. What makes Quebec so #%$@#$ special?

Unless you are what we call in English, "short bus special." You can thank your friends Acajack and Migratory Chicken from you being called that. They display reasonable attitudes and the ability to debate honestly. They make me think about Quebec and its issues and its people in an honest way. All you do is complain, and talk about how much you'll suck from the Canadian teat.

Neither Acajack nor Migratory Chicken ride the short bus, but it seems to me that you do.
Aaaah gawd! Ya gotta love it when a missive turns into a missile.

PB forgets many of us on here have been alive and have experienced ALL that Quebec has had to offer up over many decades of expressed dissatisfaction.

"How did you lose your finger?" "A splinter turned septic." "Well, why didn't you have it treated?" "I preferred showing people what happens when you use an English oar."

Let's keep it civil and avoid insulting those with handicaps, shall we ChevySpoons?

Canada is a country founded by two people. The English and the French. Quebec is not just one of ten provinces, Quebec is the remnant of the second founding people of Canada. The founding people that were double-crossed and made into second class citizens. We can assume that a budding lawman such as yourself is aware that after convincing francophones to join Confederation the Canadian government engaged in a militant policy of eradicating the French language from Nova Scotia, PEI, Ontario, Manitoba, and Sasketchewan, and banning it from spreading into Alberta and British Columbia. Luckily the Canadian government regained it's senses during the 1960's and returned to the recognition of our roots as a bi-lingual country created as an agreement between two founding people.

That Quebec is nothing more than one province out of ten is a prejudiced revisionist lie that has been spread to justify anglo manifest destiny.

I hear there is a country to your south where you won't have to be burdened by the rights of Canadians. You can live your life without being bothered by Canadians speaking their language.

Just personal observation but Canada always seems to be cleaner on the streets and whatnot. Also, Canadians seem to be friendlier and more laid back. Been to Montreal, Ottawa, Nova Scotia, St Jean sur Richleau, Toronto and Sherbrooke.

I agree. I don't get all the people who say they're so much more unfriendly than Americans. I think Americans are pretty mean and stuck up, not all of them but a lot of them.

My theory is that hockey siphons off a lot of the aggressiveness of Canadians, leaving them otherwise mild-mannered and courteous. It's analogous to the bloodthirsty heritage of the Vikings, which drew off their warlike qualities and made them into the culturally androgynous, passive socialists they are today. That and herring.

America is so big with many different regions that it's hard to state that Americans are one certain thing.
I think Californians (especially southern) are the most superficial and stuck-up, money-hungry human beings on the planet. I think the Northwesterners are mild-mannered and passive-aggressive. The southerners are conservative, but polite and nice all the same. The northeasterners are all-right.... and Midwesterners are some of the nicest people I've seen (Minnesota/ Wisconsin).
So it all depends on which part of the country we're referring to. Same goes for Canada. I find Torontonians to be city-savvy but with a small-town heart, and Vancouverites to be a little materialistic, but still polite. I think the materialism part pertains to mostly the west coast of both Canada and the US....
