I won't go through any conspiracy theories here, but I do not like Obama or anything that associated with the U.S. politically. Majority of Canadians I'm sure will disagree with me.

I'm also not a big fan of capitalism, from what i see in the USA it leads to ultra greedy attitudes that wont be satiated until every last nickle and dime has been acquired, no amount of money acquisition ever seems to be enough along with general un-compassionate attitude to fellow citizens usually with the obsessive mantra of why should my tax $$$ pay for anything for you.
Odd that America represents the apex of capitalism and China represents the apex of communism and everything in the stores is all made in China..
We've all been conditioned in our society to hate and despise communism however i believe the Chinese version of communism is a more sustainable system of people management than the US version of capitalism, problem with capitalism is sooner or later all the wealth gets accumulated by very few at the top (1% perhaps)
Kinda like a Monopoly game whereby those not at the top have nothing.
The thought/logic of voting into office one of the apex predators in this capitalist system (Romney) leaves most of my Canadian friends scratching their heads.

just because we live in a capitalist country doesnt mean we have to embrace all aspects of Capitalism just like Americans probably dont like some of the socialist programs in their country but arent about to move because they exist..

Nobody is denying that Canada is capitalist. It is not as capitalist as the U.S. but it is still a capitalist country. But just because Canada has capitalism doesn't mean people have to like it and Canada has many more features other than that that people are proud about.

Because most people do approve of significant capitalism in our societies, even if some people in the country don't. Therefore, through democracy, we stay capitalist.

I believe in a healthy mix of private entreprise, in an environment that promotes entrepreneurship, crown corporations where appropriate, and a strong social safety net that keeps people from falling out of the economy or that just improves lives and keeps the society healthy (like maternity leave which keeps the short term needs of capitalism from driving down the birth rate so low that the society can't sustain itself). Democracy with an optimal mix of socialism and capitalism is the way to go. What exactly is the right mix depends on the economy and social situation you have at hand.

When we hear he wants to fix it by doing some complicated thing with American medical insurance plans none of us have ever had to buy, we stop understanding exactly what it is. As such, most Canadians I meet think that it's good that Obama wants to do something about your health care system but for the most part we have no idea what Obama care is except that his has something to do with insurance. The main argument against it coming from its opposition is that it's socialist, and that obviously doesn't strike a chord with us, so we hear what seems like no strong arguments against it so it looks okay as a result.
LOL! This is so true.

I can relate to this part especially! When the news started talking about Obama care, I got interested and also wondered how similar it was, or was going to be to our type of publicly funded healthcare but while searching/looking up exactly how the system works from reading articles and things online, I thought, boy, it sounds rather complicated/less straightforward to understand relative to the single-payer type healthcare in Canada -- something about making people who don't have medical insurance to have to buy medical insurance, and if they don't they'd have to pay a penalty -- it sounds complex for me to understand how it runs, but maybe it's just me and I haven't read too much on the topic.
