Because many of the participants of that war were born in the area (Quebec and Ontario)that would eventually become Canada along with many French and Natives that fought alongside the British to prevent America from taking over, also a large contingent from the area accompanied the British troops to Washington for the burning,So you are right Canada didnt burn down the white house because it wasnt recognised as a country at that point but the British relied heavily on local man power For assistance, back up, and reinforcements, had it not been for the sacrifices made we would probably be just another American state today.

Canada is british, therefore we won. It`s part of our history and extremely important in the development of the usa and can.

Canada`s british heritage is still just as important as ever. This self depreciation that canadians get on with gets old way too fast.
