I can understand most of it but I have had a lot more exposure to English than most francophone Canadians.

I don`t think that`s actually hard to understand, it`s the fact that it`s mid way through conversation, if you just jump into the middle of any conversation it`s a little hard to figure out what there saying.

Im American- that clip sounds British to me- is that how Canadians speak? Sorry, never met a Canadian before.

It's how Canadians from the province of Newfoundland speak, but not all of Canada's regions have that accent. Most English speaking Canadians (about a quarter of the country speaks French) speak with accents that are closer to American ones, but not identical. The accents are close enough that people confuse Canadian accents for American ones sometimes.
