Were the actors saying their lines in English or were they dubbed by others?

In the first years, when the series was done in both French and English, I am pretty sure that every scene was shot twice - once in French and once in English.

Interesting tidbit is that the in the first season or seasons one of the actresses was the great-granddaughter of legendary French painter Auguste Renoir.

Neither better nor worse than any other beer at the time. There were three large breweries (Molson, Labatt, Carling-O'Keefe), each producing a number of brands, all of which tasted pretty much the same. It would be a few years before microbreweries proved to Canadians that there was more to beer than bland, blonde lagers; and extremely pale and mild ales that tasted almost like the bland, blonde lagers.

Thanks, Acajack! I appreciate that you took the time to post the links to the show; how thoughtful.

I had NO idea the show continued on in French. I'm curious to check it out.

Actually, Mouldy, that's a great question. As I recall, Acajack is correct. The early episodes were shot twice, once in each language. This was considered pretty novel at the time. Viewers complained that they couldn't understand the lines through the accents, and eventually the show switched over to dubbing.
