DeGrassi Junior High was one of Canada's great contributions to TV, imo. So refreshing to see "real" kids, instead of fashion models passed off as average kids.

You all have National Film Board of Canada films, too. They do some nice work that would never happen in the US.

ROC may stand for 'Rest Of Canada'.

Hee Haw always struck me as being downright bizarre when I was growing up. That being said, I am certain that many Americans also thought it was terribly strange. That is more of a city-country thing, I should think.

Do you find our crime shows foreign at all? Especially when the death penalty is mentioned?

Shows that include the death penalty would be a pretty good indicator that yes, they are foreign. Capital punishment was stopped in 1976.

They're probably the least foreign TBH. Where Canadian TV has really lacked has been my favourite type of TV show, plot driven television series that explore a single narrative over the course of the program. What we have in spades is procedurals, shows that follow a formula, like cop shows. Indeed, we produce rather a ton of them, and they tend to portray Canada in a very non-local way in hopes of leaving the door open to US export. Flashpoint, The Listener, Continuum, Lost Girl, Republic of Doyle all fit the bill and are on the air right now. Death penalty isn't mentioned, but that's hardly a significant difference.
