You may remember the thread I started about "what it means to be a Canadian" back in the summer. It received a lot of replies! Thanks a bunch!
A lot of people believe John Wayne evoked Americanism. Any Canadian actors and actresses evoke "Canadianism"?

A good candidate would probably be Paul Gross:

Raymond Massey (long deceased) and Christopher Plummer had a certain Britishness about them, probably because they went to school and lived over there.

William Shatner is thoroughly American to me!

Those are characters, not sure if that is what the OP meant (I could be wrong).

I don't know if john wayne really did represent "america" to most people? maybe a segment of america more likely.

As for canada Mike Myers wears his Canadian identity pretty openly on his sleeves.

Lights Poxleitner. Look her up, there's something very Canadian about her.

Well the question is who evokes "canadianess"? which is a pretty abstract idea which i think goes beyond the number of canadian productions a star was in.

It's funny you mention wayne's world because that was pretty much based on his teen years growing up in Scarborough now part of toronto. He set his last film in toronto and it's plot revolved around the maple leafs. His dr. evil impression is based off fellow canadian lorne michaels.

He has a very typical canadian sense of humour, a huge hockey fan. I believe he's also one of the few canadian stars who's crossed over into the states who still spends a good portion of their time in canada. Most famous canadians really only became famous when they cross over into the us market. There's a sentiment in the canadian public that a canadian star hasn't really "made it" until he/she can cross into the states.
