I have an option to fly AC from Charlotte to Rome via Toronto. I have used and like AC from CLT to YYZ but I haven't used AC trans-Atlantic. Id be flying economy. Have you flown AC to Europe? How is it? Thanks in advance!
Well, what race are you? If you're non-white, I strongly recommend you choose a European airline like Lufthansa or KLM to make the trip. Choose AC if you want to be harassed and humiliated when returning to Toronto. Personal experiences. European airline staff have no vested interest in preventing you from flying to Canada over real or imaginary issues. If you're puzzled by my answer, PM me for details.

I do sympathize your bad experience. However I couldn't help laughing at your post .. it's kind of comical that you allow your frustration to turn into a disproportionate anger.
Airlines have to learn it the hard way. Disgruntled customers do take their money elsewhere.

Sounds more like Canada customs issue than a problem with Air Canada, how does airline staff "prevent" you from flying to Canada? I don't get it.
AC intercontinental is nice. Probably better than US Air economy for the same flight. The downside being that you can fly non-stop from CLT to FCO on US Air, rather than dealing with the extra connection.

At the time of check-in for an international flight, the airline staff asks to see the documentation that will allow you into the destination country. This would be a passport, visa, etc. If you cannot produce valid documentation, they will prevent you from travelling that day.
It is in the airlines' interest to do this, because if you arrive at your destination without proper documentation, you'll be denied entry to the destination country and put on the first flight back--at the expense of the airline who let you proceed without checking for valid documentation.

I have Canadian citizenship card and an EU passport. AC didn't want to let me on the flight home from England because of my citizenship. I think the poster who had problems with AC was mistaken. I'm white and AC isn't the only airline that bugged me about this. Canadian customs have never had a problem with this. Just airlines predicting problems with customs that aren't there.
