Yahoo! News Canada - Latest News & Headlines

I'm surprising at how overwhelmingly negative all these comments are. Of course, people who comment on yahoo news stories tend to be very right-wing, but is this typical sentiment in Canada?

A young man couldn't find the job he wanted in Ontario but found it Alberta. How is that hatred of Canada?

Yeah, reading the comments, it just all sounds like Ontarians lamenting their once very robust job market and complaining about various local political controversies. I actually didn't read anything about Canada at all except one person saying it was good that young people move around within the country internally rather then emigrating from Canada all together when looking for new opportunities and experiences. And yes, yahoo comment boards are going to be populated by cranky middle aged suburbanites whining about immigrants because they have literally nothing else going on, it is a given that it won't be a representative cross section of society.

That's just one example of thousands of comments. The fact is the sentiment in the comments was overwhelmingly negative.

I didn't read through all the comments, but I've always found comment sections in news sites like Huff Post or NY Times to often be nasty and negative. It's the whole anonymity thing, where people feel invulnerable to spew whatever venom they want from the safety of their home without the risk of anyone ever knowing who they are. This is one thing I really dislike about the Internet, because it tends to bring out extreme viewpoints, and a lot of bluster and name-calling.

Let's judge an entire population by the comment section on an internet news article.

Great idea.

I thought you were referring to the story itself, not the comments.

It's the government they hate, belmont. Not the country. We're bent because the government is driving this country into the ground. You will find the exact same thing in any American comment section. Our countries used to be economic powerhouses, and people are longing for the glory days again.

Sure other countries have been growing relative to N.A - it was bound to happen but consider this. Perhaps people and in particular youngins - should do some research into where industry wants them instead of taking generic programs that don't target what employer's in Canada want. Targeted and specialized training will go a long way in helping one find a real and good paying job. The education system has blame in this as well.

Can anyone say skilled 'TRADES'
