Unlike the PR status in Canada wthich requires you to be physically in Canada for 2 years in every 5 years, a US green card holder doesn't have such an explicit minimum residence requirement. You simply can't be away from the US for more than 6 months each time.
As as long as you visit the US at least twice a year, you can keep your US PR status even if you live in Canada as a Canadian PR
That was my understanding and I am not certain if things have changed in recent years.

Well, I wouldn't say that the other poster was wrong saying that the OP will lose the US green card by moving to Canada.
He may or he may not. Much depends on luck and circumstances.
One thing is for sure: It can be tricky to maintain permanent residency in both places at the same time.
On the other hand, the immigration process to Canada may take some time. Until the OP will (or will not) get accepted to Canada as a Canadian PR, he may get the US citizenship by the time. If that happens, the problem of maintaining residency in both countries goes away.
In addition, it seems to me that the OP is OK with losing his US green card in order to immigrate to Canada. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is the impression I got from his posts. If this is the case, the problem of maintaining immigration status in both countries (and the chance of him losing the US green card) may not be relevant at all.
