In the states there's a lot of places that have "party boats" also known as "head boats" where instead of getting a private charter boat which costs upwards of $200 to $700 or more, you go on a boat along with whoever else shows up and you pay $20 to $50 per person, and you can go out fishing. They are usually bigger boats and can hold 20 people or more... some of the party boats in Florida can hold dozens of anglers. I've been on a party boat in New Jersey and had a good time fishing the inlet there. I've been searching to find a boat like this anywhere in Ontario but can't seem to find one. I've found party boats in Erie, PA, Port Clinton, OH, Sandusky, OH, etc. that go out into Lake Erie but can't find anything on the Canadian side. I would have expected party boats to exist in Port Colborne, or Port Dover, or somewhere else along the Lake Erie coastline, but my Internet searches have turned up empty. There are plenty of charter boats available, but no party boats that I can find. I can't afford to spend $400 to go out fishing!

So - does anyone know of a party boat in Ontario? It could be anywhere within a few hours drive of the Niagara Region.

Hmm...strange. I would have thought there would be a whole bunch of them. The only reason for their not being any, that I can think of, is the north shore of Lake Erie tends to be pretty rough. I don't know if Lake Ontario is the same.

There are charters out of Lake Ontario which can take 4-6 people. You could call around and likely find one that's short a person or two. Your share of a day's fishing probably won't cost more than $100.

Not sure if your idea of a party boat is a house boat or a pontoon boat.I'll assume its a house boat.
.Seems most of the houseboat rentals are on lakes, rivers and canals.
i think a problem might arise if the person renting the partyboat suspects he maybe renting his boat to a bunch of drunken party animals.
If you just want to go fishing it would probably be cheaper to stay in a motel and rent a smaller fishing boat for the day at the local marina.

jambo101, you didn't read my post. Party boat is not referring to a boat that someone throws a party on. It's a fishing boat that lets the general public on board to go fishing, usually without reservations, for a small fee.

Nope, serious about fishing. They are called party boats in the U.S. though sometimes they are referred to as head boats. And, it seems they do not exist in Canada, at least not in Ontario. Which is a shame.

Normally at most boating fishing marinas people will rent a boat that comes with a fishing guide for the area at least thats an option around montreal. something like this will give you an idea of what i'm talking about.
Fishing guides in Montreal, Quebec and Ontario, Canada

Yeah, something like that costs $300 at least... that guy's rate is $300 for up to 3 adults. Might be something nice to splurge on when I have extra funds... The party boats usually let multiple people on, say up to 12 at a time, depending on the size of the boat, and you just show up and go out and it only costs $30 or $40 a person. You share the boat with multiple anglers so the cost is spread out, but you don't have to pre-arrange anything or round your friends up for an outing. You just show up and go fishing.
