What's your opinion on the living wage thing? (minimum wage, cost of)

Ontario is on a minimum wage freeze right now, but some are campaigning to raise the lowest hourly pay to a rate that has a full-time worker living above the regional poverty line.

I like the idea, but I have honestly never worked an entry level job where the employers are not cutting some corners or ignoring certain laws/being stingy, etc. and many others would agree. I think this would set so many businesses up in arms with their budgets and start cutting hours for staff, inflation, and whatever else.

Many people would be getting paid 40% more very suddenly. Do you think it could be pulled off? What is the likelihood of this happening?

Part of the issue is you raise min wage that much the cost of goods will increase as well some seem to have this idea if i can get paid 40% more then i can afford the basics with ease with out knowing or maybe it does not come to them that the cost of good would have to increase as well meaning would people be better off or would it be the same.
