I'm sure you will have a fantastic time there. WE always love swimming in the outdoor pool in the dark while the snow is falling, it's quite beautiful the way the lights cause the snowflakes to look like a trillion diamonds falling.

There is a very special place not far from Carriage Hills. It's called, "Sainte- Marie among the Hurons". It's the site of the first European community in Ontario dating to 1639. It's a very interesting and beautiful place. Well worth a day trip. It's a very special place for those of the Roman Catholic faith, I'll let you find out why yourself.
I am writing all this down so we can plan our site seeing.

Looks like we are about set or we think we are:

Fly into Toronto on the 28th of Sept, pick up rental car and head to the resort. Sunday we will do some grocery shopping and sight seeing. One day we will do the lake and boat trip. One day we want to do things like what you are suggesting. And we will probably go to the casino. Thursday we will head back to Toronto, turn the car in; stay at a hotel near the airport and take a trip into Toronto (taxi or whatever) Early Friday we will head for Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Then Sat we will fly out of Buffalo. How does this sound and do you have any other suggestions?

That 400 highway can become quite crowded, particularly on Friday afternoons and evenings as its the only road that shunts Toronto's cottage crowds up to the Muskoka and Georgian Bay areas, if spending a day on a beach that rivals anything in Florida give Wasaga Beach a try,OK it might be a bit cooler

thanks, the comparison made me smile. The last thing we want is a crowed road we are not familiar with. We will be arriving on Saturday, mid afternoon so it should be pretty quiet I would think. I am really leaning toward just spending the last 2 nights, Thursday and Friday in Toronto and doing any site seeing via a tour even though we prefer to do it on our own.

Does anyone have any idea how much a taxi from the airport to the downtown area would be?

Well we now have our reservations for the Carriage Inn, we have them for about 3 weeks now I guess. We just reserved our car and our travel agent is setting up our 2 nights in Toronto right now. We are about set. We have a little over 2 months to decide on side trips, maybe places to eat etc. We are staying at the Homewood suites, so a light dinner is included but I still think we want to hit China town for lunch or dinner.
