Not familiar with Carifete but does it also culminate on dec. 25th ... a merry happenstance I tell you

Maybe the jews only need some jolly mythic figurehead to smooth things over.

They already have a mythic figurehead, but alas, he's not very jolly.

You are far more intolerant than any religious group that I can think of.

Certainly there's less than there used to be, but it is not gone by any means, and I truly believe the PQ scheduling the next election on Rosh Hashanah was a deliberate slap in the face aimed at the Jewish community.
This is the problem with my Jewish people, especially Orthodox; People who disagree with them or when something does not suite, or when they break the law and do not get the way they want they tend to call people for Anti-Semitics.

Rosh Hashanah is not a national or provincial holiday in Canada, why would they have to schedule events on non-Jewish holidays? Us Jews have plenty of holidays and we cannot force other countries to observe them.

add to that city refusal of synagogue extention ,and orders to close some because of zoning.
i think there is some antisemitisme but for sure it doesn't come from general population but from some crazy heads in the city (i guess)

Hassidic Jews wants the city to respect their nonsense culture and get parking ticket suspension on their holidays in a secular nation. This is NOT Israel. There is no suspension even on Christian holidays.

Are you serious?!

Jews are only small minority in Montreal, and they own few businesses only. Jews should not be above all other ethnicities and religions. Everybody should be treated equal. I am Jewish myself and do not think that we are better than anybody else.

Santa Claus is part of Christmas, and Christmas is a NATIONAL holiday in Canada. This thing also brings money, and it is fun and entertaining. Seriously you compare this event with parking suspension of Jewish holidays?! :smack

New York City suspends parking on Sundays and all religious holidays, perhaps Montreal may consider that then?

I don't have much of an issue with the parking thingy or the eruv even but I do have a big issue with people objecting to women wearing certain types of clothing to exercise because it is allegedly offensive. And I also have a problem with people not wanting to deal with female police officers who are designated by our society to enforce the law, simply because of their gender.
