A piece of legislation like this Charter of Quebec Values is rife for abuse by those with a penchant for intolerance.
Perhaps and I'd like to note the big picture when it comes to the deliberation on 'values'. Canada and Quebec no doubt understand that when you want souffle you have to have some eggs broken. I guess I'm tooting the US horn now but I don't think it's a bad thing to make sure those who deliberate and make 'souffles' continue to have and keep in mind the theme inherent in the US founding, i.e. life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Those themes are not only applicable to the US but to every other national identity that aspires to be a free people and follow principles inherent in that belief. I hope to those who feel a charter is necessary are guided as such.

As much as some people will try to argue otherwise, racism is not a problem that is solving itself. We need to invest time and energy into changing the mindsets of society or else things will not get better, no matter how much better educated or more wealthy we become. Education is not a solution unless that education is specifically planned out for dealing with these issues.
