He talks fiscal responsibility like all right wingers do and then his government runs the biggest deficit in canadian history. The last time the buggers were in power under mulroney they near destroyed the economy. It took the liberals years to recover from that bunch of "fiscally responsible" lol, goofs.

If you read the whole article instead of just the title you could get meaningful info on just who put together the poll and who to call if you have any questions..

The report is published by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, with analysis of the Gallop world poll conducted by the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.

What absolute nonsense! It was the Trudeau Liberals whose fiscal irresponsibility nearly destroyed the economy. I will give Paul Martin and Jean Chretien credit where credit is due for their work during the 1990s, but Michael Wilson and Brian Mulroney were not responsible for what you state. It was Wilson and Mulroney who took the first necessary and tentative steps to turn around the Canadian economy, which economy Trudeau and his sycophants had damn near destroyed.

Did the Chretien Liberals scrap the GST as they promised they would do? Did they renegotiate or scrap NAFTA? Doing both were cornerstones of the Liberal platform during the 1993 election campaign and yet neither happened when Chretien won power. Why was that, I wonder? Oh yes, it was because both were absolutely needed.

Canadians were still addicted to big government spending, a habit they picked up during the Trudeau era, when Mulroney was in power and it took many years to curb that addiction (which was accomplished in large part by perpetuating Mulroney as some kind of bogeyman long after he left office). Additionally, huge chunks of Tory spending during that era were costs related to servicing high interest debt -- including significant amounts of money borrowed from overseas -- which high interest debt was run up on the nation's credit card by the Trudeau Liberals. Please refrain from deflecting blame from where blame should obviously fall. Your claim is as laughable as it is wrong and it is a favourite red herring of the anti-Harper/anti-Tory lot.

your view is apparently biased. All of this can be said to the liberal government as well.
The biggest deficit is hardly the fault of this particular government. Don't forget the 2008-2009 crisis which we are still recovering from. No government is able to do well fiscally in this kind of environment.

The liberals? Yuck, i hate that name. They are almost as bad as the NDP.

Personally I like the economic and immigration policies in the past 5 years. Very encouraging. With respect to sucking up to the Americans, didn't Harper visit China after a very long time of no relationship? Didn't this government threaten to sell resources to Asia if Keystone can't go through? Can any Canadian government not suck up the Americans, ever?
