Im an american that living in montreal now. In my apartment, i have cable tv that has french channels and american channels. I love watching NFL football on sunday and in america, its CBS, Fox and NBC. I saw that i can watch these games on here as well with the american channels which is great. I see other channels you have here are City which is lot of those sitcom shows which i like.
Im confused but is TSN basically the espn of canada? I watch espn back in the states and here its like tsn is the espn here?
Also why is there hockey on like 1 or 2 channels it seem? I know canada loves hockey but its like tsn is only hockey?
Do you guys have TNT here? I know you have TBS here as i watch some baseball games on there. I also like to watch nba basketball. So during nba season, those espn games in the states... what channel is it on in canadian cable? Is it tsn? Or not because all hockey games are on tsn?
Is there a tv guide channel? I don't see one when browsing through my channels. Also, are channels similar for montreal and toronto and vancouver or its all different?

For the next ten months, you'll get hockey. At least two games a day. Three if you're lucky.
You're in Canada. It is illegal to change the dial from hockey.
Just kidding. However, be prepared for hockey, hockey, and yet more hockey. Me, I watch NFL football, CFL football, and MLB baseball, but guess what took pride-of-place at my local sports bar tonight? Hockey.
Okay so this is confusing. There was a Thursday night football and that was on Channel 38. There was also poker on tv, world series of poker.
In the USA... poker would be on espn and football would be on the nfl network.
What confuses me is how come i could not find the baseball game between the detroit tigers and oakland a's today? When i looked through channels, i always see there is a baseball game when its the postseason as it shows TBS on it... but today it wasn't on the channels when i was scrolling thourgh it. Does anyone know the reason? Is it b/c there was nfl football on thursday which means no tbs then for baseball at that time?
If you buy the Saturday Gazette Newspaper it comes with a tv guide for the week..
Across Canada different cable servers will show some different shows on different channels but mostly you get the same stuff nation wide.
While most American tv shows are available up in Canada i cant seem to find a few of the American political comedy shows on my Videotron provider, eg; FOX and Glenn Beck..

I was at the local sports bar tonight. The Giants vs. Bears NFL football game was broadcast on Sportsnet (Sportsnet bought the feed from the NFL Network). The Tigers-A's game was also on, but I'm unsure what channel it was. There was (naturally) hockey also: San Jose vs. Vancouver, Montreal vs. Edmonton, Toronto vs. Nashville. At any rate, I could watch everything.
As in the case of tonight's football game, it is very common for Canadian carriers to buy the feed from the US originator. Thus, you might find the game that you expect to be on ESPN to be on TSN, or the game that you expect to be on TBS to be on Sportsnet. Or it might actually be on TBS, if no Canadian carrier wants it; and if you want to see that game, then you'd better hope that your cable provider offers you TBS. Or whatever. In any event, you need to look closely at Canadian listings to find what you want--you cannot automatically assume that the game you want is going to be where you expect it in the US.

Who cares if poker and football are on different channels in the US, this is Canada, and Sportsnet has both.
TBS or TNT are not in Quebec, but as ChevySpoons wrote, sports channels will sometimes buy their feeds, hence why you'll sometimes get a baseball game with the TBS logo. If you go back on that same channel during the day, you won't get regular TBS programming.
You seem to have Videotron basic cable. You'll get sports on channel 28 (TSN), 33 (RDS - in French) and 38 (Sportsnet). You'll get weekend sports on mainstream US channels as usual: 18 (NBC), 21 (CBS), 22 (ABC), 36 (FOX). You'll also get hockey on 13 (CBC). Sometimes another channel like 14 (City Mtl) will show a football game as well, but it's usually a feed you already get elsewhere.
Not sure where the Tigers/A's game was (if it was anywhere -- ChevySpoons' bar might have had MLB Extra Innings) but for the NLCS/ALCS, all games this weekend and early next week will either be on Sportsnet (TBS feed) or FOX.
