NORAD was formed by Canada and the US as an alliance against the USSR. Since that adversary no longer exists, and if I'm not mistaken Russia has some kind of association with NATO, NORAD seems a bit redundant. I feel it is an expensive anachronism that should be disbanded.

I agree that early warning protection from an ICBM attack from the Soviets is a system that is designed to give warning from a now highly unlikely scenario and a job that can probably best be done from satellite surveillance. However i guess it will be kept alive as long as the Americans want to keep paying for it.

Good point. as the way/frequency some people change user names on this forum ya never know who you're talking to.. However i always give newbies the benefit of the doubt and a big welcome to our new member tommacebb
