Hello friends

Have you ever been in Mexico?
Would you like to come to Mexico?

I've never been to Mexico, but I know the resort areas attract a huge number of Canadians, especially in the winter...

Yes, went to Mexico a few times.
Not going back anytime soon. This year has been an "open season on Canadian down in Mexico", If you kill a Canadian tourist the Mexican Goverment will cover it up for you.

I think it is a nice country and I'd like to visit.

But with all the illegals in the USA (we hear about this in the media) obviously there are a lot of problems in Mexico or why would so many be trying to leave.

I'm curious how things got this way in Mexico? Canada and the US turned out OK economically speaking so what happened to Mexico? Lack of natural resources? People are not as smart? People are not disciplined? I hear a lot of Latin Americans just blame the States for all there problems but I don't think that is fair?

I don't think we should blame the USA either, Mexico happened to suffer from more unstability and divisions than America or Canada since it was born, than our two other north american brothers.

But things are getting waaaay much better and on par with you economically speaking, it'll take some time though but we are getting there

Mexico has been behind for so long that it is going to take more time, but,...the progress thus far is exemplary. His main foci thus far have been industrialization, and expanding the educational parameters. Yes, a lot has been done, stabilization of the Peso was a good start, it is still an uphill struggle.

As interesting as this discussion could be, the original topic of the thread was "How Do Canadians Feel about Mexico".

Generic discussions about Mexican issues should be taken to the Mexico forum.

Thanks.

A couple of years ago I worked at a company with a factory down in Mexico. Co-workers would go down there on business. While guys down in the factory were incredibly nice they had some unsavory things to say about the police. Regardless of whether they were breaking the law they were stopped and had to pay them off to be left alone. That's outrageous!

The news has been running stories for a couple of years of Canadians killed while on vacation and the Mexican authorities immediately pointing the finger at other tourists. Possibly, but what about other suspects?

When I stop hearing these things about the Mexican authorities, I think I would like to take my children there on holiday.

I went once when I was a child. Not much interest in going there now, as I value my life too much.
