Whether the Scots secede or not, the Quebeckers will bring it back up again. Quebec independence isnt about economics like the Scottish one. It is about having a unique culture and language that is as distinct from Anglo Canada as say France is from Britain. This is why Quebec independence will never go away until they are either "anglicized" or independent.

The referendum in Scotland is also about having a unique culture and language. If it were just about economics, both sides wouldn't have ads tugging at people hearts, rather than their heads.

No it isnt. What unique language is it about? They both speak English. And the protestant Scottish culture is extremely similar to the protestant English unlike the Irish who are traditionally Catholic and only started speaking English widely in the 1800's. Quebec/Rest of Canada or even Flanders/French Belgium is in no way comparable to Scotland/England.
Okay, I'm sure all of Canada is glued into what Scotland is doing, how they are voting in regards to secession.
Assuming Scotland votes yes and it succeeds, which we probably won't see for at least 5 years, then will Quebec take the cause up with even more fervor?
I think Spain will act first.
The whole Quebec thing was dusted off in the last election so unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Quebec is no powerhouse within Canada or North Amwerica and its citizens are well aware of it. Only the hardliners would knowingly take a hit to their pocket book to preserve lol their culture . they are 30% at the most, another 30% could be swayed if Quebec erased all that red ink and showed some sustained growth but that aint in the cards for decades....so relax MikeLiker

Have you ever been to Scotland and if you did, you didn't notice a cultural difference?
Certainly English is spoken widely, but they DO have their own form of Gaelic. Here's a weather report…
The lowlands have been speaking English as long as England. English in Scotland is not due to the English but due to the Saxons who conquered Scotland, just like they did to England. Had Scotland never initiated the UK with England they would still be English speakers today. There is also no way to claim Gaelic as more Scottish than English because it was brought by invaders from Ireland who arrived around the same time that the Saxons brought English.

It is absolutely absurd to compare the cultural difference between Scotland and England to Quebec and Canada. More like the difference between Mississippi and Massachussetts.

Where did I do that? Don't put words in my mouth.
I simply said that there IS a cultural difference, one that most Scots feel VERY strongly about.
Guys, looks like all this trouble for nothing. Financial Times is already preliminary results, with the NO camp having a decisive advantage over the Yes camp, 54% voting no on average as of now, 46% yes.
As for Quebec, just give it a rest...
