There are some regulations but they're at the provincial level. There's simply no national law.

The fact that the sitting Prime Minister of Canada (Conservative Stephen Harper) and all of the major opposition parties (Liberals, NDP, Bloc, Greens) are against opening the book on an abortion debate pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Abortion, much like gay rights, are nowhere near the kind of hot-button issues in Canada that they are south of the border in the United States. Nary a peep about abortion in the political halls of Canada. Nary a peep about gay rights in the political halls of Canada. Compare that to the United States, where more than a few politicians have their political careers defined on their stances on abortion and LGBT rights.
