And Ken we need some examples because some of us probably have no idea what you're on about. Lot of things happened in the era you are referring to, what do you consider "misguided political and social experiments"? and how was Harper instrumental in changing these experiments?
Bingo in red... What exactly has Harper done that is drastically different than Mulroney, Chretien or Martin.. I know some people like to characterize major differences but to be honest, I think the differences have been minor and more aesthetic than anything.. Its been business as usual to the point I don't see much of a difference between the blue and red at all really.. Its mostly cosmetic.

Socialized medicine means government death panels. At least the PM is standing up to communist Russia.

A lot of things happened in the 60s,70s & 80s. What you view as failed political and social experiments, others might not.

But you're not looking at it from the perspective of history. In the present-day things are never so readily apparent.

You've got to go back to Diefenbaker and beyond to adequately determine just what social experiments Ken might be referring to and given that he's basically stipulating a timeline that involved both major parties in the process, that would begin with perhaps old Diefy the dummy running right through Pearson to the Trudeau years, into the "skippy" Clark, Turner, Campbell, Mulroooon, the little thug Chretien and culminating with Martin.

Pearson got rid of discriminatory race based immigration policies and authored the concept of bilingualism later made "official" during Trudeau's tenure. No one will EVER bring back immigration based upon race so that can't be what Ken's talking about.

The only "social experiment" that could arguably be called thus would be Trudeau's formalizing our immigration process as one of 'multiculturalism' without a ballot.

Universal healthcare was instituted with bi-partisan approval so the term "experiment" being used when both parties have held power during it's tenure with no attempt to remove it being entertained would preclude it from being referred to as an experiment, would it not?

Hellyer's tri-service nonsense during the Trudeau era cannot be referred to as an experiment today due to it's abysmal failure to even be completely enacted.

So leaving the Trudeau era behind with his repatriation of the Constitution and creation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms would then bring us to two insignificant "temps" of Joe Clark and John Turner who didn't have time enough to experiment with anything other than perhaps Turner's early love affair with Princess Margaret. The brief time Campbell had before being thrown under the bus by her fellow conservatives was of no note either.

Mulroney needs no mention as Free Trade could never be called an experiment and the return of trade tariffs on imports and the resultant reactionary responses would be the death knell to Canada's economy.

I'm left wondering just what "experiments" a conservative Harper is left revising to any significant degree that haven't been modified or refined already.

Budgetary fiscal restraint can hardly be the one as the stupid F-35 program and it's non-bid process will hardly be remembered as a shining moment. Putting all of Canada's economic clout behind a pipeline becoming less relevant by each passing second would hardly be another.

I'm gonna wait for Ken's clarification just like the rest of you

We might be waiting a while as so far this topic is all based on Kens opinion with nothing in the way of facts

He's Canada's worst most damaging prime minister of all, and aught to be tried for treason....I hope and pray that he's out next election.

He's made war mongers out of peace keepers.
He's **** big time on the taxpayers.
He's put Canada up for sale, he's ruined our industrial industry completely, he's forgotten who pays his salary.
He betrays Canadians by selling their natural resources to the rest of the world while insisting that his own people pay big time for them or do without.
He's completely forsaken the youth.
College won't help, they'll just have a loan to pay off, and no job to go to.
And if they won't take that minimum job, with no hopes of ever owning their own home, or raising their own family, he brings in the migrants....breeding discrimination and anger everywhere.
The country's a MESS, ask anyone facing loooong waits for a surgery that he promises as "timely"...biggest joke of all.
He wants everyone working for minimum wage, and in huge debt....probably a form of control.
He's absolutely a discraceful and appalling prime minister......lets hope Canadians are smart enough to say NO to bill C-51
