Now, it is the more liberal party that is "bleu" and the more conservative party that is "rouge".

Well, in the old days the Union Nationale was conservative and nationalist and blue.

The Liberals were more middle of the road and less nationalist, and red.

The wasn't much of a left-wing party in those days.

Now the nationalist party is on the left. No right-wing to speak of in Quebec anymore.

I think the proper term is "extreme-centre"

Quebec just doesn't have a really coherent left right spectrum. I would consider the CAQ to be a right wing party in its context, however.
