As for Dominion?
Canada Day sounds rather bland don't you think? Also, I noticed that some news organizations/localities still use the Dominion Day:

1982.

Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was enacted, resulting in the patriation of the Constitution of Canada.

That flag you posted seems to be the Canadian Red Ensign 1868–1921, however i've never seen a version of it with that gold crown over the coat of arms, any one know when this particular flag was used?Could it be a provincial flag?
Thanks.
Happy 4th boston.

Hmm I'm not exactly what the little crown is doing there either.

I think this is the most recent version of the Union Jack Canadian flag before it was replaced by the current one in 1965:

Regardless, Canada really has an interesting history with its different flags within the short history of the country. And I think constant innovation is a good thing Maybe someday we'll replace the current flag with a better design.

And lastly, and I must say this (and no offense to my Canadian friends), but I really think the American flag is one of the best designed and pleasing-to-the-eye flag among the nations Just saying.

Gotta admit that Canadian red ensign is a much more visually appealing flag than the plain old Maple Leaf we have today..

Indeed! Which ever party can restore the old flag gets my vote in October I don't care if you waste money or go to war abroad or enact some half-a** security bill or have the same hairstyle for the last 10 years. JUST GIVE ME A BETTER LOOKING FLAG!

Canada Day... or National Moving Day as far as Quebec is concerned.

The lateral bands were originally slated to be blue so to reflect the "coast-to-coast" aspect of Canada...

That aint gonna happen and i'm wondering why some one from the USA gives a f about what the Canadian flag looks like.
And in wishing Canadians a Happy Canada day then takes the Sincerity out of the gesture by posting a pic of a flag of Canada that hasnt used in 50 years along with a country descriptor that is equally archaic.
